Mommy Confessions: Attitude

Linking up with Heather and Megan  for Mommy Confessions!

My Confession
Crazy Attitude

I don't know if it's programmed into a 4 year old's DNA to drive you absolute bonkers but my kid is trying to win the gold medal doing this.

We are breaking this neat little habit he's picked up recently called Attitude.

I don't get along with Attitude. Attitude and I are enemies. Now the monster and Attitude are BFFs and I'm about to kick them both to the curb.

When I ask him to do something he recently started this extra bit of whining, which I don't tolerate, and telling me he doesn't want to.

My response is always, "I did not ask if you wanted to. You are GOING to."

He does it and then I always say, "Wasn't so hard kiddo could have been done ages ago."

I thought I had a couple more years before this started?!

When it counts the most my kid is always pretty amazing so we take the good with the bad but I can't be dealing with this Attitude person anymore. If he talks to ME this way he must talk to his teacher this way and that is unacceptable.

I may be too hard of a parent but I feel like if I can nip a lot of this stuff early on it'll be less work for me later because he will know better. He already knows better.

  4. OH MY GOODNESS....I feel the same way. Mine know better too and they do it over and over and it works my nerves. My 4 year old does that whining crap and the sassing has started...ugh. Happy New Year Ashley!

  5. Yeah, I'm with you on that… I don't do well with attitude either, finding a way to get them to adjust is the hardest part. Good luck and God bless.

  6. LW is a bit of an attitude master himself! I can sympathize with ya' there girl! I feel guilty because sometimes I blame myself (I say if I wouldn't say "no" to him so much, he wouldn't say think its OK to say "no" to me), but I think its just that stage, where they are learning independence, but don't yet understand the difference between that and defiance! Hang in there, girl! ;)

  7. Hahaha I have such a hard time believing that your sweet little boy would give attitude!!!! But seriously, go you for handling it this way - you're a great mom for this, and I'm mentally filing this post away for when Benjamin inevitably starts giving me lip!

I don't think I've commented on this yet, but I love the new layout!

    Thank you for linking up!
