Mommy Confessions: The Furbabies

Linking up with Heather and Megan  for Mommy Confessions!

My Confession
Furbabies

I have three furbabies. One cat (11) and two dogs (7 and 1).

Right before we had Sam Zoe the Great decided it would be totally awesome if she could do her massive shedding blow out. I cannot even explain to you the amount of hair she sheds. She is a medium sized dog with medium length hair and I'm gathering at least a dog worth of hair every day.

I could not be more miserable.

I did so much nesting when I was pregnant for so long that it has now become a habit. I deserpately need a clean house and with there being dog hair EVERYWHERE it's making me crazy.

I knew she was a shedding dog. We've had her a year now and I have never seen so much hair from her ever. We are sweeping daily and when I was pregnant I could go a week without sweeping and wouldn't even get a 10th of the hair she is dropping now.

I am totally going to shave her hah.

So my confession is I'm struggling to handle it and really want to be animal free. How nice it'd be to not have to listen to the cat howl, or clean up trash from the small 3lb dog (who gets into our garbage can), and deal with the hair of the big dog. SO very nice.

Will we part with these animals? Nope. They are here to stay but I dream about it lol.

  1. I sometimes wish we didn't have the hair, but then I am thankful that the dog eats the crumbs off the floor after dinner with messy kids

  2. I dream about the SAME thing.
Then I feel like an asshole. But when they are gone and out of the house at the groomers, or something, man is is dreamy.
Also, I used to vacuum my rabbit. Legit. With the hose attachment.
    Try it. It works.

    Thanks for linking up!

  3. Get her furbusted at the groomer! $40 well spent.

P.S. - you had me worried for a minute. Can't stand people who ditch their animals after having kids! LOL.

  4. We tried a cat in our household a few months ago, but just wasn't going to work... His temperament wasn't compatible with the kiddos, at all (he legit would attack the kids, perhaps just out of playfulness, but he wasn't old enough to be de-clawed)... So, we passed him along to my sister-in-law who was looking for a fur-baby. So it was still a win-win :)

  5. Oh my gosh, I cannot imagine having a pet, let alone 3, at my kids age...but especially yours! No thanks. Maybe when they're a little older and we actually have a house. Gil you have much more patience than I would.

  6. Hahaha today, both Derek and I said to Cooper, "WE CAN'T WAIT FOR NEXT WEEK" (when he goes to live with the breeder while we build our new house). I'll miss him, but not his annoying escapades. He's a bad shedder too - it's disgusting. Tumbleweeds everywhere, and we vacuum aaall the time!

    So, I feel ya!

  7. OMG you and me both! Especially when my maniac almost 1 year old dog barks at the top of his lungs at me for putting on my shoes while the kids are sleeping. We wouldn't trade him for the world though :)

  8. Keep your head up! Get a furminator- you can get them really cheap off of Amazon and they work amazing.

Having pets will not only help your children's immunity, it will teach them compassion towards other people and animals.

I get frustrated too, I foster on top of my own. But to hear my almost two year old squat down and sweetly say "Hi little titty" and gently pet a new kitty makes it all worth it.

They will know how to respect life later on! And think, when the kids get older they always want to help so they can do the brushing and clean up the poop!!!
