Sam is 7 Weeks

Sam is 7 weeks old. It's crazy to think that this little guy isn't so little anymore.

He's grown so much. I cannot wait to go to the doctor and get "official" stats. Not looking forward to shots because they are so heartbreaking for babies this small. I'm still traumatized from when Lucas got his first set of vaccinations.

Things have been going well. We are getting to a better place.

We made the switch to cloth diapers a few weeks ago. I must say I'm loving it and so is Tom. I was worried that Tom would not be on board but he doesn't mind it at all. I know he loves not having to hear, "Oh we are out of diapers you need to go to the store." Tom scrapes poop, he sits and stuffs diapers with me, and is completely okay with it. They are so easy to clean and not nearly as scary as I thought they'd be.

Cara over at Why Can't Wheat Be Friends (Gluten Free Blog) sent me two wet bags, a naked time mat, and cloth wipes. All sorts of amazing all around. I love that we aren't putting disposables in the garbage. We aren't wasting anything (but yanno water lol).

It's a nice feeling.

Sam is smiling a ton more. He's "talking" to me in coos and gurgles. He is moving his mouth trying to talk it's so cute. There is nothing cuter than looking at my youngest son smile with me and seeing the dimple on the left side of his cheek. The dimple he shares with his brother. The dimple that I gave them. These kids may not look a whole lot like me but in the details you can see what I gave them.

It's such an amazing thing to see.

He is super interested in what Lucas is doing. I have a feeling Sam will be an early crawler and walker because he will want to keep up with Lucas.

Sleep is coming in spurts.

Lucas had to nurse to sleep and sometimes he had to comfort nurse for 30 minutes before you could put him down. Sam likes to nurse to sleep but you can rock and pat him too. He's pretty easy to get to sleep. It's putting him down that can be tricky.

I like that Sam is a bit easier to get to sleep. I don't like that he wakes up at 4am every morning. He will go back to sleep but yanno c'mon just sleep until 5:30 or 6 pleeeaase?

Ah well. It's not terrible. He's a fantastic baby I could not have asked for a better baby. I have no real complaints.

When he's a bit older and is on a more natural schedule things will be perfect. Now he eats and sleeps when he wants and it works for us. When he's older and up for longer stretches I'll work more to getting him on a better schedule that works for the whole family.

  4. My SIL uses cloth and loves them too. We plan to as well once we have a baby. Now that her daughter is 7 months and eating solids, she bought a diaper sprayer that attaches to the toilet and loves it.

  5. Ashley, Sam might just be the cutest seven-week-old I've ever seen. Seriously! I'm happy you're able to keep up the blog (when my daughter was this age I was too exhausted to even think)! Your blog is so cute!

  6. Oh my - already?!?! I feel like you just had him!!!! a

So happy you're loving cloth diapers! We're doing disposable while living with our parents and it's KILLING ME. We haven't even been here a week and I'm already pained. Might have to suck it up and switch back - though both sets of parents don't have great laundry machines for the washing. Oy.

ANYWAY - he is just getting cuter and cuter!!
