If you've been following he got sick on August 1st with a rash and fever. We were warned that day the risk of Kawasakis Disease.
After 23 days we got a diagnosis.
Yesterday his hands and feet started swelling. He also broke out in a urticaria rash as well which tbh has been the worse part of this whole ordeal. Enough is enough.
This morning we headed to the cardiologist to check his heart and sure enough he's got inflamed coronary arteries.
My poor little almost five year old is really sick.
We never left the hospital from the cardiologist they walked us down to admissions and we've been here ever since.
He's on an Intravenous immunoglobulin treatment along with a high aspirin protocol.
He did really well with the first five chewable aspirin. Not so much this time. His lips are swollen so I'm pretty sure he swallowed some air trying to drink water in between pills.
He's been through so much. But we have a Long road of recovery ahead of us as well.
The hardest part for him is the IV. He was so distraught last night and this afternoon that he worked himself up like crazy. He did much better with me than Thomas who tbh I think this has been hardest on. That's a post for another day.
We are all camped out up here. I couldn't stand the idea of being at home with Sam whole Tom did this alone. So far Sam is doing well.
He's itching to crawl around but that's not going to happen.
As for me. I'm shockingly calm about the ordeal. Part of me knew this was the route we were going to end up and the other part is keeping it together so Tom doesn't have to.
We are worried about long term there could be heart damage. He may end up having to take aspirin everyday for the rest of his life. It's up in the air now. I just know that we are at the tip of the iceberg here and it's going to be a long road to recovery.
